St John's clock, long silent and unmoving, will soon return to life!
We’re really excited to tell you that our clock, that has long been silent and unmoving, will soon return to life! As a final part of the Beacon on the Hill National Lottery funded project we are pleased to be able to have it repaired, the dial repainted and it will soon be striking the hours once again. We know this will please many local people who have longed for its return (and we are grateful to those who have contributed to our clock fund, to boost funding for the Lottery). For some of us it will be the first time we’ll have seen and heard it working! In addition, the church organ has also been silent for too long – and is also currently undergoing repair. So to show off both, on Sunday 14th December from 1.30pm we will have an “open church” afternoon when you are invited to see and hear the repaired church organ and clock - before our 3pm Carol Service at which Cleobury Mortimer Country Brass will be playing. Come along to either or both! December 14th – a date for the diary!
And talking of diaries, Our Christmas Fair this year is on Sunday 30th November, 2.30pm at Doddington Village Hall – we’ll have a variety of stalls from handmade cards to cakes, tombolas to pet toys, artworks to children’s clothes and much more, and seasonal refreshments. We look forward to seeing you there!
It's great to see that visitors are coming through St John’s doors to see the new Heritage Gateway – some find memories flooding back, all discover things they never knew about Titterstone Clee Hill and area. The heaters come on when you enter the building, so why not hang around and have a drink? We’re noticing that the hot chocolate from our proper coffee machine is popular! The space is also available for groups to meet in – our own Knit and Natter continues on the 3rd Monday of each month, and if you’d like to use the space, do get in touch: stjohnsdoddington@gmail.com.
