The full film of the Song of the Hill performance is now available via our website. Over just 30 minutes you’ll be transported through sight and sound to the top of Titterstone Clee Hill with its incredible landscape. It brings to life a time when the hill teemed with quarry and mine workers and rang to the sound of local characters’ music and poems.  Performed by the enthusiastic children from Clee Hill Community Academy and with a live funky big band of Surge Orchestra musicians it’s a great musical performance written & curated by our Songwriter in Residence Sid Peacock.

Heard the Music? Get the Leaflet! People are already visiting the new Heritage Gateway & facilities at St John’s having picked up our recently launched and distributed leaflet around the region’s tourist info spots. Visitors have ventured up the hill that they’ve often seen at a distance for years, and been fascinated by what they found when they got to St John’s. We so often travel miles to visit tourist spots, possibly overlooking the fascinating places on our doorstep – it can be a real revelation to be a tourist without the mileage!

Got the leaflet? Hear more music! Our Beacon on the Hill project has been extended. We’re delighted that the National Lottery Heritage Fund are allowing us to include the repair of the organ in the project. It’s a charming Positive Organ which has been sadly unplayable for some years, but over the next couple of months will be restored to its full voice, and we hope to include it in some of our future musical performances, as well of course as in services. We know organists love to find a new organ to play - if you are interested in playing it, do let us know!
